On 14th to 16th November 2025, Mazda welcomed international experts from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) IEC SC 32B and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) xxx to its site in xxx Hiroshima, for a working meeting to create a new EV fuse standard, ISO 24968-1.

FaulTrap actively participated as an expert member of IEC Subcommittee SC 32B
As a member, FaulTrap is involved not only in maintaining and advancing the existing series of IEC 60269 standards but also contributes significantly to the collaborative efforts between the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Specifically, FaulTrap engages with Joint Working Group (JWG16-JWG15), focusing on creating a new standard, ISO 24968-1.
This forthcoming standard is intended for fuse-links used in electric road vehicles and will cover products rated up to 1000V AC / 1500V DC, defining performance requirements and testing procedures that extend beyond current standards.

During the working group meeting FaulTrap collaborated with other manufacturers of fuse-links and electrical protection devices to review the draft standard and discuss various comments aimed at improving application safety. Additionally, automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) present at the meeting contributed insights regarding their primary requirements.
A significant portion of the discussions centered around refining test procedures and establishing testing requirements to ensure that fuse-links can endure conditions as close as possible to real-world scenarios.
The development of standards is an ongoing process involving experts globally who share their expertise with a unified goal: to enhance the safety of final products designed in accordance with these standards.
